Build the platform that helps our engineers build

At Gomibo, dozens of engineers build the services that power our platform across Europe. As a Platform Engineer, those engineers are your users.

You’ll write production code while working with Kubernetes, infrastructure, and GitOps to build and improve the platform they rely on.

Our tech & workflow

  • Languages: PHP, TypeScript

  • Platform: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Flux

  • CI/CD & GitOps: GitLab CI/CD, Flux

  • Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki

  • Workflow: Agile, code reviews, short iterations, open feedback culture

Platform Engineering works closely with Engineering teams across Gomibo. We want to understand where engineers lose time or run into unnecessary complexity and build solutions that make the right thing easy to do. That means we don’t just maintain infrastructure. We treat our platform as a product for our fellow engineers.

What you'll do

You’ll start with well-scoped projects and gradually take ownership of larger parts of our platform. Experienced engineers are there to help you learn the systems and technologies you haven’t worked with before.

You’ll join the Platform Engineering team, where we build and maintain the software, tooling, and Kubernetes configuration that make it easier for development teams to build and run their services. Instead of working primarily on customer-facing features, you’ll improve the platform behind them: from PHP applications that manage configuration and access, to Kubernetes operators and tooling that let engineers safely self-serve the infrastructure they need.

Examples of what you’ll work on:

  • Build and maintain PHP applications that manage configuration and access

  • Develop self-service tooling that helps engineers configure and operate their applications

  • Maintain and improve Kubernetes configuration and operators

  • Automate recurring infrastructure tasks and improve the developer experience

  • Debug problems across application code and infrastructure

  • Review code and configuration and collaborate with engineers across teams

What do we offer?

Are you joining our team? Then we’ll not only make sure you have a great job, but also attractive employment benefits. Take a look at our full employment conditions here.

In addition to a good salary, a favorable pension scheme, and 25 vacation days per year (option to buy 5 more), you can also count on:

Terms of employment

Monthly vacation allowance so you don’t have to wait for it.
Lots of discounts at local businesses.
Friends & Family vouchers.

Personal growth

Training programs, one-on-one coaching, and peer learning sessions.
The opportunity to take on more and more responsibility.

Culture & activities

Plenty of (optional) social activities such as board game and video game nights, chess, bouldering, and Friday afternoon get-togethers.

Tools & hybrid working

A good laptop.
Flexible starting times (between 8:00 and 9:00).
Hybrid working: up to two days working from home.

What we're looking for

You enjoy building software, but you’re also curious about the systems it runs on. Maybe you’ve already worked with Kubernetes, experimented with your own cluster, or built deployment tooling and found yourself wanting to understand more about the platform behind an application.

You don’t need professional experience with every technology in our stack. Some hands-on experience with Kubernetes will give you a strong head start in this role. You should already be comfortable with its core concepts and interested in developing that knowledge much further. If you enjoy building software and are equally curious about the platform it runs on, we'd love to hear from you.

We expect:

  • Have experience building software in PHP or another object-oriented language, through work or substantial projects

  • Understand software engineering fundamentals and care about clear, maintainable code

  • Have hands-on experience with Kubernetes and understand its core concepts

  • Are comfortable with Git and the command line

  • Have familiarity with Linux, containers, and how applications are deployed

  • Are interested in developing deeper knowledge of Kubernetes and infrastructure engineering

  • Like automating repetitive work instead of doing the same thing manually

  • Enjoy understanding how systems fit together and aren’t afraid to investigate when something behaves unexpectedly

  • Communicate clearly and are comfortable asking questions when you don’t know something

Experience with Helm, CI/CD, GitOps, infrastructure-as-code, or Kubernetes operators is a plus, not a requirement.
